Day 1 - and we're off!

Thanks to everybody who arrived today - 10 altogether.

This must be a first - not one, but two trenches open by lunch time.
Four grids of geophysics completed and some promising signs of the buildings we are looking for.

Trench 1 closed before the end of the day as it was yielding very little and the consensus was that it is outside the inhabited area. Trench 2 is just a few metres away and already has a range of finds indicating a domestic setting. Trench 3 which is hopefully placed over the wall of another major building on the platform is also yielding pottery, glass and other domestic artifacts.

There was great drama at lunch time when our portaloo arrived - a luxury we have not had before. We have given it a test run and its passed with flying colours.

We have done quite a bit of walking about interpreting the map evidence and now we think we have a plan and know what we are doing! It may all change tomorrow.

We have taken delivery of a new camera, purchased from money granted by The Brecon Beacons Trust, so hopefully tomorrow we will have some pictures of the site to add to the blog.

Todays crew:- Jemma, Mike, Kerry, Ed, Margaret, Jan, Mark, James, Callum & Debbie.
